There are many ways in which you can help us effectively market and sell your book.
For every book you publish, we will ask you to complete the RLI Author Marketing Questionnaire. The information you include here, in particular in relation to relevant conferences, journals, courses and possible reviewers, is invaluable to our marketing team. Please return the completed questionnaire to your editor within one month of submitting your final manuscript.
Catalogues and eMarketing
Our US publisher Rowman & Littlefield produce over 1.5 million direct mail pieces a year that are distributed worldwide and we also distribute our own subject catalogues twice a year which you can find in the catalogues section. Your title will be included in any relevant catalogues on both sides of the Atlantic and mailed to academics, librarians, booksellers and selected press contacts.
We also run extensive eMarketing campaigns and your title will be announced in relevant email newsletters. Sign up now to spot your title!
We will send review copies of your book to relevant journals on publication. Please include details of any suitable publications, including any personal contacts you might have, in your Author Questionnaire. We will use quotes from reviews on our website and in other marketing material, so please let us know of any review coverage you become aware of.
We attend a large number of academic conferences worldwide across a range of disciplines, often in collaboration with our US publisher, Rowman & Littlefield. Your book will be promoted at relevant conferences where appropriate. Please let us know whenever you are attending a conference or another event and if we are not attending ourselves, we can provide flyers for you to take with you and, where appropriate, send physical copies of the book for display.
We are very active on social media and promote our books as appropriate through those avenues. You can follow the RLI blog and we encourage authors to contribute with guest posts – just ask your editor. You can also follow us on Twitter @RowmanInternat, Facebook and YouTube. We encourage our authors to promote their titles through their own social media activity, so don’t forget to tell your editor when you’re posting any new content that we can promote on your behalf.
Author activity and speaking events
Please let us know if you are commissioned to write an article for a newspaper, magazine or journal, or if you are invited to give a talk or seminar.
